Consider/Approve Director's Participation in CEO Professional Development Program

Preliminary Matters:

Annually, the Board must approve its Director’s participation in the State’s Executive Development Program for Public School Leaders, Component III – CEO Leadership Institutes. This program consists of ten (10) days of meetings each fiscal year for which the State usually pays the Director a $1,000 supplement ($100 per meeting). Due to the additional State budget cuts, I am not sure of the status of this supplement for the 2010 – 2011 Fiscal Year. Regardless of the status, no financial obligation will attach to the Board’s approval of my participation in this professional development program.

Staff Recommendation:

Professional development opportunities are extremely important in staying informed on the latest trends and developments in public education. I would appreciate the Board's approval of my participation.
